my 8 year old daughter begged for this set-I was reluctant because I thought it would be flimsy and seemed like a ton of parts, etc., but ordered it anyway. pleasantly surprised that all the items are very sturdy, metal (aluminum?) and durable. He played with every piece, every day, because we understood and no signs of wear whatever (and I ordered this months ago.) VERY happy with this purchase. highly recommend it.
